Two British soldiers (Reuben Easman and William Johnson) were hanged along with Charlotte Flahaven for murdering Charlotte's husband, John Flahaven on 16 Oct. 1832. An immigrant ship had arrived the day before the hanging and as no one wanted to perform the hanging, a sailor was found who was willing to perform the act for 5 pounds.
